REFRIGERATION

Reach-In Coolers & Freezers:

Reach-In commercial refrigeration is essential to the food service

industry, providing efficient storage of all perishable items. From

restaurants to hotels to grocery stores, they play a crucial role

in maintaining quality and safety of food products both in raw &

processed form.

Some of the benefits and features of reach-in refrigeration and/

orfreezers are:

Commercial reach-in units are designed to maximize

storage space while maintaining a small footprint.

Many units are labeled in their model number by the

square footage of cold space – for example, a common

type of cooler is a T-49-HC from True Manufacturing.

This unit has 49 cubic feet of cold space and comes

in either a cooler (T-49-HC) or a freezer version (T-49F-

HC). This unit is 54” across and 30” deep and still

holds 49 cubic feet of cold storage.

Another space saving feature is that commercial

units are not outfitted with drawers or door shelves or

accessories that make it difficult to add larger capacity

sheet pans and food containers. Basic flat shelving is

the best option to fit as much in as possible.

Although there are different types of commercial

refrigeration and freezers, typically reach-

in commercial refrigeration and freezers are

temperature optimized to keep food fresh and

prevent bacterial growth or food borne illnesses.

Reach-in commercial coolers and/or freezers

provide precise temperature control with digital

thermostats, high efficiency insulation and high-

powered compressors for maintaining a well

cooled cavity.

Some units do offer a dual temperature option

like a residential model with both a freezer and

cooler option; however, these are less common

pieces in the world of commercial food service

equipment as they can be costly.
