Undercounter ice machines are just that – ice machines that are meant to live under a counter and

provide ice on a continual basis with some manufacturers offering up to 330lbs per 24 hours in a small

footprint. Undercounter machines have expanded in recent years to offer a variety of cubes and sizes

over the basic full and half sized cubes.

As this type of unit is generally low to the ground, drainage needs to be considered. These units

typically have a gravity drain on the unit close to the floor which is simple if you have a floor drain or

have accommodated for this requirement in your build. If the machine’s drain is lower than the drainage

point, such as a sink drain, an external condensate pump may be required to pump any wastewater up

and out to the drain.
